The Cherished Of The Lord

THE CHERISHED OF THE LORD

The cherished of the Lord

Shall dwell within His heart,

And God shall cover them with grace

And from them not depart.

They shall dwell between

God’s shoulders like a child,

And there shall they find peace and hope

Through every stormy trial.

God who robes Himself with light

And dwells in clouds above,

Will hide them from the wind and rain

And shield them with His love.

The cherished of the Lord

Will ever sing God’s praise

Extolling Him who gave them life,

They’ll worship Him always.

Psalm 68:4 (KJV) “Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name Jah, and rejoice before him.”

Psalm 104:1-3 (ERV) “My soul, praise the Lord! Lord my God, you are very great! You are clothed with glory and honor. You wear light like a robe. You spread out the skies like a curtain. You built your home above them. You use the thick clouds like a chariot and ride across the sky on the wings of the wind.”
Deuteronomy 33:12 (KJV) “The beloved of the Lord shall dwell in safety by him; and the Lord shall cover him all the day long, and he shall dwell between his shoulders.”

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, may You bless all who read this prayer, poem, and bible verse to know that You cherish them beyond anything they could ever imagine.

Your word says that Your thoughts toward us outnumber the grains of sand by the sea in Psalm 139: 18, and Psalm 40 says You are always thinking about us.

You don’t ever forget a single one of us though sometimes we may feel forgotten in our pain, loneliness, trial, or whatever challenge we may be facing. You are with us. The Bible is true.

Isaiah 49:16 reveals that You have engraved a picture of us on the palm of Your hand and that “our walls” are ever before You. You see all our needs and the challenges that we are facing. You will never fail or forsake us.

You love us without measure and that love is unconditional. You forgive all our sins and wash them as far away from us as far as the east is from the west according to Psalm  103: 12.

That same Psalm declares: “The Lord has always loved His followers and He will continue to love them forever and ever!” Psalm 103:17 (ERV) Lord, thank You for Your great love for each of us!

Lord, thank You for Your grace and mercy, and for sending Your Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins so that we could be saved and given eternal life with You. We love You. In Jesus name, amen.

Emily’s Poem

Over the holidays, my family have all been enjoying our favorite Gardens here by the coast. Above is a photo– well- an illustrated one- I caught a cold and couldn’t resist decorating it 🙂 –of one of the famous poems that are carved into many of the brick walls around the different parts of the Garden.

The poem “I’m Nobody” by Emily Dickinson inspired the prayer poem the Lord gave me the other day, “I’m Nobody Special.” (See my previous post on my Facebook Page).

I love to meditate on Emily’s poem.

“I’m nobody! Who are you?

Are you nobody too?

Then there’s a pair of us-don’t tell!

They’d banish us you know.

How dreary to be somebody,

How public, like a frog,

To tell your name the livelong day

To an admiring bog!” ~Emily Dickinson

This little poem is a jewel filled with wisdom, understanding, and insight.
First off, a nobody is a metaphor for a person who is not famous, or who’s name, social status, or any other thing has not elevated him or her above anyone else.

The poet is content to be on the same playing field as every other human being.

Right away this reminds me of Romans 2:11 “There is no favoritism with God.”

Before the Lord, all people are equal. For out of dust we have been made and unto dust we shall return, God said to Adam in Genesis 3:19

Each of us will all stand before God someday. “To Him we must explain the way we have lived.” Hebrews 4:13 (ERV)

Whatever we may have accomplished or accumulated on this earth, will stay on the earth when we die. We will not be able to take one thing with us into eternity but our soul.

The rich man, the celebrity, the King and the governor will stand side by side with those on earth who were the poorest of the poor, the homeless, those who suffered, and the utter destitute~ people they would never have thought to acknowledge or invite into their homes.

Those who are elevated above others in status, according to the poem, don’t accept the nobody’s.
“…They’ll banish us, you know.”

Snobs~ people who believe they are better than others~ never accept the “ordinary mortal,” because in their minds the “nobodies” aren’t good enough in whatever way their group has elevated themselves above other people to associate with them.

Pride is listed first among the seven things God hates.

Proverbs 6:16 “The Lord hates these seven things: eyes that show pride…”

It may very well be the sin God hates the most because this was the sin that caused Lucifer, the anointed Angel, to fall and become Satan~the evil being who caused a third of the Angels to fall from Heaven and who is responsible for all that is evil.

Pride is hatred wearing respectable clothes. Pride is arrogance. Pride is haughtiness. Pride is selfishness. Pride is vanity.

Pride is idolatry for it makes of itself (or anything it is prideful of) an idol that sets itself up as a rival to God.

Pride incorporates multiple sins against God, who is love. (1 John 4:8)

And love is the antithesis of pride.

It is little wonder that the Bible says,

“Though the Lord is on high, Yet He regards the lowly; But the proud He knows from afar.” (Psalm 138:6)

Don’t think that you are better than you really are. You must see yourself just as you are. Decide what you are by the faith God has given each of us.” (Romans 12:3 ERV)

What happened to Lucifer, the author of all pride?

Ezekiel the prophet, using the King of Tyre as a metaphor for Lucifer,  recounts what may have happened.

‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says:

“ ‘In the pride of your heart you say, “I am a god; I sit on the throne of a god …” but you are a mere mortal and not a god…” (Ezekiel 28:1 )

“ Thus says the Lord God: “You were the signet of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.

You were in Eden, the garden of God; every precious stone was your covering, sardius, topaz, and diamond, beryl, onyx, and jasper, sapphire, emerald, and carbuncle; and crafted in gold were your settings and your engravings.

On the day that you were created they were prepared.

You were an anointed guardian cherub.

I placed you; you were on the holy mountain of God;

in the midst of the stones of fire you walked.

You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created,

till unrighteousness was found in you.

In the abundance of your trade you were filled with violence in your midst, and you sinned;

so I cast you as a profane thing from the mountain of God,

and I destroyed you, O guardian cherub,

from the midst of the stones of fire.

Your heart was proud because of your beauty;

you corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor.

I cast you to the ground… ” ~ Ezekiel 28:12-17

Isaiah pieces more of the story together:

“You said in your heart, ‘I will ascend to heaven; above the stars of God;

I will set my throne on high;

I will sit on the mount of assembly in the far reaches of the north;

I will ascend above the heights of the clouds;

I will make myself like the Most High.’

But you are brought down to Sheol, to the far reaches of the pit.”  (Isaiah 14:13-15)

Jude recounts in one sentence the rebellion of the Angels who followed Lucifer.

Jude 1:6 (AMP) “And angels who did not keep their own designated place of power, but abandoned their proper dwelling place, these He has kept in eternal chains under the thick gloom of utter darkness for the judgment of the great day,”

Perhaps Satan tempted the rebel angels as he tempted Eve in the Garden of Eden, by promising them that they could be more than what they were if they just listened to him and not to God.

Such a temptation won’t work if you are content with who and what you are in the first place.

Jesus said in the The Sermon on the Mount,
“You’re blessed when you’re content with just who you are—no more, no less. That’s the moment you find yourselves proud owners of everything that can’t be bought. (Matthew 5:5 The Message Bible)

I have not taken the time to count how many times the Bible admonishes us to be thankful to God. A sense of gratitude counteracts a prideful heart.

Psalm 107:8 “Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!”

I love reflecting on that little poem by Emily Dickinson because it never fails to speak something new to me each time I meditate on it.

My New Year’s Prayer is to be grateful to God every day, to thank Him for all the wonderful blessings He has given me, and to fervently pray for a humble and pure heart that will always be content to just be me.

In this world there will always be people who are elevated above others in myriad ways socially, economically, politically, etc.
But none are so to God in any way. All are on a level playing field before His eyes.

We must learn to see ourselves and all people as God sees us and them. Then and only then, will we be able to love ourselves and each other with no bias and from a pure heart.

New Year’s Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You that Thy word says ” there is forgiveness with Thee that You may be feared.”
Lord, Thy word says that You are very far from those who are proud and I want to be close to Thy heart.

Abba Father, examine my heart thoroughly; may You expose and forgive any and all pride that You find there.

Please show me all the ways I have ever thought more highly of myself or any of the blessings You have given me than I should have, and forgive me. Lord, forgive me if I have ever excluded anyone from my group because I didn’t think they measured up in some way.

Forgive me if I have valued people’s opinions of me more than what You have said about me, fearing people more than You.

Forgive me if I have treasured anything in my affections more highly than my relationship with You, oh Lord.

Forgive me if I have not been content and grateful to be who You created me to be, but listened to the serpent’s lies over Thy precious Truths.

Lord, I repent of all the ways I have been proud and not loving You with a whole heart and blind to all of this pride.

Lord, I pray for forgiveness and for a pure and humble heart that is free of pride; a heart that will see myself and others through Your eyes and will be free to love sincerely and wholeheartedly with the measureless love of Christ, in Jesus holy name, amen.

Proverbs 21:21 “The one who pursues righteousness and faithful love will find life, righteousness, and honor.”

May you all have a beautiful New Year!

The Story Of The Song “Oh Holy Night”

oh-holy-night-the

(Lord) Everything remains today in keeping with Your laws, for all things exist to serve You. ~ Psalm 119:91 (The Voice Bible)

 The Story of the Song “Oh Holy Night”

 Placide Cappeau de Roquemaure (1808 to 1877) was a wine merchant who lived in a small French town in the 19th century.

He enjoyed writing poetry and had developed a local reputation for his poems.

In the year 1847, the local Parish priest asked Placide if he would write a Christmas poem for the Church’s Midnight Mass Celebration of Christ’s Birth.

Although not known as a god fearing man, or as one who attended church regularly, Placide must have been honored by such a request, for he agreed to write the poem.

 Once he’d finished “Contique Noel” he asked his friend, the composer Adolphe Charles Adams, who was well known for composing ballets, to create music for it so that it could be sung by the congregation.

Although neither Placide nor Adolphe were Christians (Adolphe was of Jewish ancestry), these two men somehow created and composed one of the most beautiful Christmas Carols of the Christian Faith; one that especially brings great glory and honor to the Lord Jesus Christ…

Ask and it shall be given you,

Seek and you shall find;

Knock and the door shall open;

Oh trust in Me, My child.

I love you, oh I love you;

And if you ask for bread,

I will not give a serpent

Or something that is bad.

I am your Heavenly Father;

I will give good gifts to you;

Oh knock upon My door and see,

My promises are true!

My promises are true;

Oh seek and you shall find

That I am with you in your heart;

Oh trust in Me, My child.

Oh trust in Me, My child,

I’ll never let you down—

In storm or flaming fire,

My grace for you abounds.

Listen, child, please listen!

Oh know and understand—

Heaven and earth shall pass away,

But My promises will stand.

Oh ask and it shall be given,

Oh seek and you shall find

That nothing is too hard for Me

To do for you, My child.

The things that seem impossible

Are not too hard for Me!

If you but knock on Heaven’s door

I’ll meet your every need.

I’ll not grant every wish or want,

But every need that’s true;

I made you and I always know

The path that’s best for you.

So ask and it shall be given,

Seek and you shall find;

Oh seek My will and You’ll receive

As I have promised, child.

Ask Seek and Find

What Jesus Taught About Prayer

God’s word contains many beautiful promises concerning prayer. Jesus said that whatever we ask for in prayer, if we believe we receive it, we have it.   Jesus also taught many other scripture promises concerning prayer and we must not ignore those very important verses. He told us to pray this way, “Our Father, who art in Heaven, holy is thy name, Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done…” (Matthew 6:9-10)

In the Garden of Gethsemane Jesus Himself prayed, “Father, let this cup pass from me, yet not my will, but Thy will be done.”

There is an interesting scripture in Psalm 25 that I love and one that I cling to.The Lord advises those who fear him. He reveals to them the intent of his promise.” ~ (Psalm 25:14 GW)

We must always pray and meditate over God’s word and ask the Holy Spirit to give us wisdom and insight into every promise, weighing scripture against all other scriptures in the Bible so that we don’t take God’s word out of context and end up misunderstanding the true meaning of God’s word. Jesus taught and believed that God would answer every prayer we pray. But He also taught that we must seek God’s will first. “Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matthew 6:33)

Jesus taught that God knows all about our needs. He said,  “Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.” Luke 12:6-7

God will answer all our prayers for He has promised to do so. He will answer in His own way and time and according to His will.  Jesus made this very important statement about prayer to His disciples:

“Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.” Luke 18:1

We must never stop praying about the things that are important to us. God has put certain desires within our hearts and we must persevere in prayer and pray about them until we see them realized. “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven…”

Whether your prayer is for the salvation of a loved one, or for a future spouse, a broken marriage, a healing, deliverance from fear, depression, chronic pain, a need for a job, a home, strength to meet our challenges, protection from harm, the list of needs is endless…but we serve a mighty God who is able to meet ALL OF OUR NEEDS!

God hears and answers ALL of our prayers. Jesus promised this and He never lied. St. Peter wrote that there was no deceit in His mouth. But we must understand that God always gives according to His will.

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” ~ Matthew 7:7-8

As Jesus directed, we must keep on asking, keep on knocking, keep on seeking. We must never stop praying.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, holy is Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven, in my life and in every life who is even now praying this prayer. May You answer every need and assure every heart that You will give them what they are hoping for at the right time. May You assure their hearts that You are working everything out in their lives into a beautiful masterpiece that will sing Your glory and praise someday, In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Thank God

Lord, When I’m Afraid

LORD, WHEN I’M AFRAID

Lord, when I’m afraid,

Help me walk by faith,

Hold my hand, dear Jesus,

And keep me ever safe;

Though I cannot see You,

Help me feel You near,

And trust that You are holding me

So help me not to fear.

Though my path may lead

Through the raging storm,

Hold me through the wind and waves,

And keep me safe, oh Lord,

In Jesus’ name, amen.

*Thank You, Heavenly Father, that though we cannot see You with us on our path, You see us, and no matter what trials we might be facing right now, Thy word promises that beneath us are Your everlasting arms. We can trust Thy word for Jesus said, “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My word shall never pass away.” You are ever faithful and will be with us through every storm no matter how fierce. Thy word says that we only need to trust and believe in You. I ask for You to give each of us more faith to believe, more grace to weather our challenges, and more hope as we cling to Your everlasting arms that are bearing each one of us, thank You Lord, in Jesus’ name, amen.

Paths of Peace

Psalm 103:1-2 (ERV)

“My soul, praise the Lord!
    Every part of me, praise his holy name!
 My soul, praise the Lord
    and never forget how kind he is!”

PATHS OF PEACE

All Glory to our wonderful God who has blessed me with a new book!  My publishing company, Wings of the Morning Publications, LLC,  just recently published my first book, “Paths of Peace, Illustrated Prayersong Book,” in print and eBook editions!

I have very good reason to celebrate because as someone with very little time, and yet who must work within the boundaries of an autoimmune disorder that causes me to have chronic migraines that are often so severe I cannot do anything but lie in a dark room and pray to the Lord, it is miraculous that I can accomplish the things the Lord inspires me to do.

We serve a wonderful God who gives me the grace to bear my cross through the faithful prayers and encouragement of my church, family, and wonderful friends. I could not do a thing apart from Christ and the faithful prayers of His people. I know this.

Despite my often debilitating affliction, God has helped me to compose music, write songs and poems, paint pictures, make albums, and videos, to manage my Etsy shop, and now through His strength to write and illustrate this book to comfort and encourage people.

How but through God’s amazing power and grace could I have done or do what I do? People who know me in person realize this more than anyone else because all they have to do is be with me for a few hours before they notice that my energy fades, my face turns pale, and I begin to wilt like a flower without water.

Activities that most people take for granted, I am unable to do or can only do for a little while before exhaustion takes over and I must go home to take a long nap. If I overdo anything one day, I will pay a price of being bedridden sometimes for three days or more, losing precious time off from my work.

But those days when I must spend time in bed, I will worship the Lord. Time away from work is never wasted when it is spent in the heart of God abiding in Christ.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is not an affliction I would wish on anyone. For as of now there is no cure. Since 2006, when I got CFS, many people, churches, family and friends have prayed for my healing. I’ve been anointed with oil, and even gone to special healing services, but the Lord seems always to say “no,” as He told St. Paul. “My grace is sufficient for Thee.”

There is an interesting verse in Psalm 33:

“No king achieves a victory with a large army.
No warrior rescues himself by his own great strength.
Horses are not a guarantee for victory.
Their great strength cannot help someone escape.
The Lord’s eyes are on those who fear him,
on those who wait with hope for his mercy” ~Psalm 33:16-18

In other words, God is not impressed with strength, power,  health and beauty and youth like the world is. What does impress Him though is our willingness to step out in faith no matter how weak we are and trust that He can do the impossible with us no matter how broken we are. Because our weakness shows how strong He is. His light shines best through the broken pots. His glory cannot be seen through an unbroken vessel.

If God is glorified in my brokenness then I will praise Him no matter how many migraines I must suffer on this earth! Because I love my Lord Jesus Christ and I know He loves me. He suffered far more than I will ever suffer when He was nailed to the cross and when He was beaten and lashed for my sins to make me His own. He had to wear a piercing crown of thorns and I think about His excruciating pain He suffered for me when my head is engulfed in pain and so I just lay it all at His feet and worship Him.

Praise our wonderful God with me for the book of prayersongs that He gave me! Praise Him with me for every album of prayersongs and instrumental music He blesses me with, for they are all from Him and gifts for His people to encourage them and to encourage me also! The Lord encourages me as He gives me prayersongs, paintings, musical compositions, and poems. I am just a conduit of His grace.

Watch the video below to take a peek inside Paths of Peace Illustrated Prayersong Book and to listen to one of the songs from the book. The book features the lyrics that I sing on my album “Paths of Peace, Songs of Love and Peace.”

Please pray that God will use both the book and song and album to comfort and encourage many people for the Lord! And thank Him with me that He enabled me to accomplish this wonderful book! For truly this is miraculous!

God bless you all! ~Suzanne

Heavenly Father, thank You that with You ALL things are possible. It doesn’t matter who we are or what our abilities or weaknesses are, You are more than able to work through any broken pot and do amazing things through each of us if we will only step out in faith and trust in You. We praise You for Your great power and strength and love for us! In Jesus’ mighty name, amen.

 “The just shall live by faith.” ~Romans 1:17

With God all things are possible,

For those who will believe,

He who spoke all things to life

He spoke and it came to be.

God spoke and all the stars were born,

The Universe began,

He measured the length of Heaven

In the hollow of His hand.

With God all things are possible,

His word can never fail,

To those who with Him walk by faith

His promise will prevail.

God will never forsake those

Who trust Him and believe

In the Word He speaks to them,

For God cannot deceive.

But promises from God come true

According to God’s time

And often they can tarry

Till they can seem a lie.

 Often they can tarry till

We think them but a dream,

They tarry and they tarry

Till our hearts may disbelieve.

And when a soul begins to doubt

And walk in unbelief

No longer trusting in God’s word,

Our God is very grieved.

No blasphemy can sting God’s heart

As does the bitter soul

Who started out by faith in God

Then let their faith grow cold.

Through unbelief their love for God

Turns to withered ash,

Because God’s promises to them

Never came to pass.

But the just shall live by faith

And in his faithfulness,

We walk by faith and not by sight;

Our timing is not His.

 With God all things are possible

To those with eyes to see,

To those with faith and a patient heart

To trust God and believe.

With God all things are possible

To those who walk by faith,

Loving God with all their heart

And for Him learn to wait.

 Bible Dictionary: (Thayer & Strong’s) ~Faith * Conviction of the truth of anything; truth, assurance, to trust, have confidence in, be convinced, be persuaded of a thing concerning a person.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, help us to walk by faith and not by sight, trusting in You ever more each day. Thy word says that “faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God,” so help us to read & meditate on Thy word in our daily walk with You. Help us to turn our eyes onto Jesus and off the things of this world that so often steals our attention from You. For this world is not our true home, You are, Lord. We love you, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

ENCOURAGING SCRIPTURES ABOUT FAITH IN GOD

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” ~ Hebrews 11:1

Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.” ~ Hebrews 11:3

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” ~Hebrews 11:6

Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.  But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast unto the end…” ~ Hebrews 3:12-14

For the vision is yet for an appointed time and it hastens to the end [fulfillment]; it will not deceive or disappoint. Though it tarry, wait [earnestly] for it, because it will surely come; it will not be behindhand on its appointed day.

Look at the proud; his soul is not straight or right within him, but the [rigidly] just and the [uncompromisingly] righteous man shall live by his faith and in his faithfulness.” ~ Habakkuk 2:3-4 (Amplified Bible Version)

“God is not a man, so he does not lie.
    He is not human, so he does not change his mind.
Has he ever spoken and failed to act?
    Has he ever promised and not carried it through?” ~Numbers 23:19 (New Living Translation)

God Keeps His Promises

Psalm 146:1-2, 5-6 (NLT)

“Praise the Lord! Let all that I am praise the Lord. I will praise the Lord as long as I live. I will sing praises to my God with my dying breath.

But joyful are those who have the God of Israel as their helper, whose hope is in the Lord their God.

He made heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them. He keeps every promise forever.”

Prayer

Thank You, Heavenly Father, that You are a faithful God who loves each one of us as if we were the only one to love. Thank You that You have never failed a single one of Thy children and that You never will. May You renew the faith & hope of every person reading this prayer. May You draw their hearts closer to Thy Son Jesus Christ. May they know that Heaven and earth will pass away, but Thy word will never pass away. And wherever they are on their journey may You fill their hearts with rivers of supernatural peace & comfort them with a deep assurance that all will be well, In Jesus’ name, amen.

Oh there’s a promise up ahead
Of new life for me;
A river of mercy and peace;
Where the waters of God’s love
Will never run dry,
Where His presence
Will never cease.

Oh, there’s a rainbow up ahead
Awaiting for me,
The promise of bright new clothes~
A golden ring and a holy name
That no one but Jesus knows.

Oh there’s a promise up ahead
Of faith for my heart;
A gift from my Father above,
To help me to walk with Him each day
And to know His holy love.

Oh there’s a rainbow up ahead
Awaiting for me,
I just need to point my eyes
Up to the Son in the Heavens
And to trust that God never lies.

“Rainbow Up Ahead” are the lyrics to one of the prayer songs featured on my first album, “God’s Rainbow Promise.”

So often we get our focus off of Jesus and onto this material world, but the Bible reminds us that everything in this world that we can see and touch with our hands is only temporary, while the things we cannot see are eternal.

In his second epistle to the Corinthian Church, St. Paul encourages those who were suffering with these words, “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.” ~ 2 Corinthians 4:17-18

God gives many promises in the bible to His children that are eternal promises that will only be fulfilled when we see our Lord face to face.
If we base our hopes in this material life we will be sadly disappointed, because as St. John wrote, “And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.” ~ 1 John 2:17

Nothing in this material world is permanent. Jesus assures us that we are going to suffer tribulations in this life, but that if we abide in Him and in His word we shall have joy and peace because He is the same yesterday, today, and forever~He is eternal.
“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”~ John 16:33

Trust God. He is completely faithful to keep every promise He makes. He has never failed you and He never will.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, may You bless Thy children who are suffering trials of any sort, whatever path they are on today, lead and guide them with Thy wisdom and counsel.
Heal all hearts that have been broken and disappointed.
Speak words of comfort to those who desperately need a word from You, draw them close to You and encourage their heart with Thy measureless love for them.
Thank You, Lord, in Jesus’ mighty name, amen & amen.

Isaiah 50:10
“Who is among you that feareth the Lord, that*obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? let him trust in the name of the Lord, and *stay upon his God.”

Oh You Who Fear The Lord
(Prayer Poem inspired by Isaiah 50:10)

Oh you who fear the Lord
Who listen day by day,
For His holy voice
And always watch and pray,
Yet now you walk upon a path
Where God seems far away,
Though you’ve never strayed
From His holy path,
You cannot sense His hand
Showing you the way.

The road before you twists and winds
A dark and narrow way,
You cannot see where you should go
Although you’ve prayed and prayed.

Wait upon the Lord,
Trust His holy name,
He will come again to you
To light the path you take.
He will turn His face to you
And then your hope will shine
Brighter than a thousand suns
Your faith again you’ll find.

Jesus Christ is with you now,
Though you feel Him not
As His Father was with Him
Upon His holy cross
Of suffering and shame and pain,
He cried, oh Father Why?
Why hast Thou forsaken me?”
His Father heard Him cry.
The Psalmist said His Father heard
And did not turn away
From His pain and suffering;
He heard Him when He prayed.

God hears you in your darkness,
He won’t ignore your cries,
He’s with you in your suffering
Though you can’t see His light.

His light will come again,
You’ll rise from your Sheol,
Christ’s light will flood your Heart again
And you will be restored.
He’ll wrap you in His robes of praise
Your mourning turned to joy,
Oh wait, oh wait upon that day
Oh you who fear the Lord!

Psalm 22:24
“For He hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither hath He hid his face from him; but when he cried unto him, He heard.”

Isaiah 50:10
“Who is among you that feareth the Lord, that*obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? let him trust in the name of the Lord, and *stay upon his God.”

*Obeyeth: transliteration shama’ > to hear, listen to, Obey
To hear (perceive by ear)
To have the power to hear
To hear with attention or interest
To understand
To listen, give heed to
To listen, yield, obey

Darkness: chashekah
1. Darkness, misery (Strong’s)

The word *stay (Transliteration sha’an -BDB definition:
To lean on, trust in, support oneself in God. Stay in God: (Strong’s)

The idea in this scripture appears to be that if you are someone who loves and fears the Lord, who is walking in obedience to His will, and yet somehow are going through a season where you no longer feel His presence as you once may have, or are in a time of sadness or misery, or maybe you cannot perceive God’s voice about something you may need wisdom for and have been praying about; maybe your path seems strangely dark although you are doing all the right things like praying and reading your bible—this scripture is very comforting and gives a clear prescription to those who find themselves on such a dark murky path:

Trust in the name of the Lord and stay or wait upon Him.
Psalm 9:10 And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.”

Psalm 44:5 “Through Thee Lord, will we push down our enemies: through Thy name will we tread them under that rise up against us.”

Psalm 83:18 That men may know that Thou, whose name alone is Jehovah, art the most high over all the earth.

Psalm 86:11-13 “Teach me thy way, O Lord; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear Thy name.
I will praise Thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart: and I will glorify Thy name for evermore.
For great is Thy mercy toward me: and Thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell.”

Psalm 91:14 “Because he hath set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known My name.”

Proverbs 18:10 The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.

Psalm 23:3 He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.

Keep relying on God despite appearances and feelings which are deceptive.
“The grass withers and the flowers fade but the word of our God shall stand forever.” (Isaiah 40:8)

2015/01/img_8188.jpg

Immerse yourself in God’s enduring word filled with beautiful promises that will encourage and comfort you.
God is in His word.

St. John wrote that Jesus Christ is the living Word of God. (John 1:1)
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

You will sense God’s nearness again as you begin to study and hold fast to His holy promises.
Wait on the Lord,
Be of good courage and He shall strengthen thine heart, wait I say on the Lord.” Psalm 27:14

Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your word that promises You will never leave or forsake us. Even though we may go through seasons in our life where we may not sense Thy comforting presence, we have the assurance of Thy word that says You have engraved us on the palm of Thy hand and that our walls are ever before Thee. (Isaiah 49:16)
Thy word promises that mountains may depart and hills may be removed but You will never take Your holy love away from us. (Isaiah 54:10)
The Psalmist said that Your thoughts toward us outnumber the sand on the seashore. (Psalm 139:18)
And the prophet Zephaniah wrote that You sing for joy over us. (Zephaniah 3:17)
May all who pray this prayer be encouraged and comforted by these truths from Thy holy word.
May they sense Thy comforting love and presence as they never have before.
May You fill them with rivers of peace and hope and make new joy to abound in their life and wrap them in robes of light. Give them their heart’s desires, in Jesus’ holy name. Thank You Lord, I love You, Amen.
